Monash University Library is seeking a dynamic, accomplished and innovative leader for its Caulfield Library, managing a team of staff working in the transformed centrepiece of Caulfield campus following a major, multi-year extension and refurbishment.
In this role you will collaborate with other senior staff to shape Caulfield Library’s contribution to the University’s education and research agenda in relation to the faculties present on Caulfield campus: Art, Design and Architecture, Arts, Business and Economics, Information Technology and Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences. You will be a member of the Library Strategy Group, lead or be a member of one or more faculty teams, lead library-wide projects and work with other library managers to achieve strategic objectives. Key to the role will be developing resources, programs and services for areas of research intensity and changing curriculum, including responsibility for skills development programs in a subject area.
To be considered, you will have extensive knowledge of, and experience in, a field of the above disciplines, and a postgraduate qualification in Librarianship or another relevant field. Your expertise will cover information research and/or learning skills principles and practices. In addition you will have significant experience in the effective management of facilities and in leading, motivating and developing staff and teams in a complex and busy library, education or research-focused environment. To be successful in the role, you will also need high level interpersonal and negotiation skills; the ability to build strong partnerships with designated faculties in relation to Library programs, services and resources, and a track record of effective change management.
