About the Position

Reporting to the General Manager, Mining, an opportunity has become available for a high performing Technical Manager to join our team at Meandu Mine. The role will be based in Brisbane with equal time spent on site at Meandu Mine.

As our energy market is, and will continue to experience significant change, your primary focus will be to ensure that the Meandu mine is able to flexibly respond to market-driven generation requirements while maximising overall business value.

In this critical senior leadership role, you will responsible for fostering a collaborative environment which delivers long-term resource planning excellence with a focus on maintaining Stanwell’s competitive market position of the mine and power stations through a culture of continuous improvement and optimisation of the Meandu life-of-mine strategy.

You will lead a small in-house owner’s team of professionals tasked with maintaining and improving the geological knowledge base, leading the development of long-term term strategic mine plans and budgets, oversight of the mining contractor delivery and execution of short to medium-term planning and other day to day technical services to ensure consistent cost-effective delivery of energy required to meet electricity demand.

Through your one-team collaborative approach to key relationships you create within Stanwell Mining and Generation Operations, Corporate Energy Trading and partner Mining Contractor teams, your strategic focus and leadership will support Stanwell’s high performance culture of continuous improvement, safety and  environmental compliance excellence in everything we do to ensure that the value of Stanwell Corporation’s assets are maximised from pit-to-pole.

About You

As an experienced people leader you will role model values-based behaviours that drive a culture of care, with a focus on continuous operational improvement. You will guide and mentor your team and influence widely to achieve a high standard of safety, productivity and commercial performance outcomes.

Strong commercial acumen and financial modelling skills are essential, built from years of technical and operational experience on site to demonstrate a deep working knowledge of mine optimisation, mine design, mine scheduling and open cut mining methods

You are proactive, innovative and influential, along with having the ability to build effective stakeholder relationships that promote collaboration across the portfolio. You are an excellent communicator, both verbally and in preparing written business cases/board papers.

Extensive experience in mining is a prerequisite, as well as tertiary qualifications in mining engineering (or similar).
