About the role
Reporting to the Manager, Unix Systems, the ICT Research Support Officer will have responsibility for day-to-day management of specialist research ICT infrastructure and associated services including the management of the university high performance computing platforms. This position will ensure that the research needs of research groups are met efficiently and effectively in compliance with University and Government regulations.
You will also be required to collaborate with La Trobe researchers and the research community to identify, design, document and implement, improvements to existing services, new services, specialist solutions and decommissioning of unused services.
Skills & Experience
To be considered for this position you would have completed tertiary qualification in Computer Science or Software Engineering with at least four years relevant work experience, or a combination of both education and training including broad experience in scientific teaching and or research environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of ICT infrastructure, systems, programming languages and database systems as well as expert experience in the conduct of ICT service development, research, evaluation and design.
You will possess high level analytical skills, demonstrated capacity to mentor, train and support other technical staff or researchers in the use of ICT.
