About the position

The La Trobe Institute for Molecular Science (LIMS) is a world-class multidisciplinary biomedical research institute based at La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia.

The LIMS Executive team consists of the Director and three Deputy Directors, all of whom undertake busy and demanding research programs in addition to their leadership roles; and the Manager, the Communications Advisor, and two administration officers, who provide strategic, promotional, and operational support to the institute and its leadership. The administration officers are responsible for a broad and comprehensive service managing schedules, travel, and meeting secretariat and technical support, along with a range of operational and transactional tasks.

Additionally, LIMS presents a wide selection of business and research-focused events across the year, both inward facing involving LIMS members and La Trobe staff, and outward facing involving external collaborators and community members. This role will help with the strategy, planning, and execution of these events to ensure successful and impactful occasions.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have:

  • Undergraduate degree with extensive relevant administration experience, or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in administration developed through extensive relevant experience and application.
  • Technical skills in use of A/V technology for meetings and events.
  • Experience planning and managing events, including peripheral activity.
