Strategically distributed on a daily basis across Australia’s rail network, we have our people and assets all methodically planned by our Planning Team. This HR Business Partner position partners with our Planning Team reporting in to the Head of HR – Freight. This is a senior position with key accountability for partnering with a highly commercial portfolio that will drive the workforce planning agenda for our Freight business unit.
In order to be successful in this role, you’ll need to have a solid Generalist toolkit, gleaned from extensive experience and broad exposure to current HR practices. You will need to have a proven background in business partnering, with clear evidence of your ability to drive quality business outcomes, employee engagement and a high-performing culture.
This position will balance an operational HR portfolio, mixed with delivering on strategic,value-adding people solutions within the Freight business. This a challenging, but critical position that has the potential to extend your skillset, while further developing an existing career for the right candidate. Although based at our Head Office in North Sydney, interstate travel will be required on occasion.
Key responsibilities include:
- Strategic workforce planning, culture & engagement planning
- Coaching leaders on complex employment advice within the full remit of the employee life cycle
- Organisational design, restructuring and change management
- Talent development and succession planning
In order to be successful in this role, you will have proven experience as an HR Business Partner, preferably from within a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
You'll need strong analytical ability, coupled with an innovative and creative thinking style. High-level communication ability is essential, with verbal, written and interpersonal skills integral to success in this role. You will need to demonstrate proven relationship management strengths, with clear evidence of your ability to build successful stakeholder relationships.
In addition, you’ll be expected to demonstrate:
- Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or Business and a successful track record in generalist roles within large organisations
- You can manage multiple stakeholders with conflicting priorities, using strong communication skills to build effective business partnerships
- High level problem solving and decision making capability
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to achieve through others across business units and functions
- Drive to succeed - you will be outcome-focused, with a high level of maturity, acting with integrity at all times
