The key responsibilities of this role will be to operate a forklift truck for the purposes of handling containerised and break-bulk cargo for vessel and yard operations in a safe, efficient and productive manner.
This is a fantastic opportunity to earn great pay while working flexible hours. The hours of work will be irregular (day, afternoon and night) and will not follow a set roster.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the loading and unloading of freight to and from the vessels is being carried out in a safe and efficient manner;
- Ensuring cargo is stacked and secured safely;
- Operation of machinery and equipment in accordance with safety regulations;
- Performing housekeeping and general duties.
The successful candidate will display a safety-first approach to their work, will have a proactive attitude and be capable of working in a fast-paced environment. As you will work on an irregular shift pattern (day and night shifts), it is essential that you have flexibility to work varied hours.
In addition, you will have had previous experience operating heavy machinery including forklifts and attachments with an ability to handle large construction and mobile equipment. Knowledge of yard layout and radio procedures will also be key to your success in this role.
- High risk forklift license (LF) (preferred)
- Class C Drivers Licence
- Top Lift experience/Container freight experience
- Flexible attitude towards shift work
- Intermediate computer literacy skills
