The Opportunity
Based in Wingfield, SA, the Transport Scheduler plans and optimises daily transport operations across the state. Working in Future Operations, this role schedules services more than a day in advance before handing over to Current Operations. Responsibilities include allocating jobs to routes, fleet assets, and drivers to ensure safe, compliant, and timely delivery.
The position balances customer needs, operational capacity, and contractual obligations while maximising asset utilisation and minimising costs. The Transport Scheduler collaborates with Operations, Transport Solutions, Customer Service, and Fleet teams to maintain service reliability, adapt to changing conditions, and support a high-performance, customer-focused operation.
Key tasks:
- Coordinate with site leaders and Customer Service to ensure schedules are accurate, safe, and compliant with fatigue management and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) requirements.
- Foster strong communication and accountability across operations.
- Support driver engagement through clear route planning and responsiveness to challenges.
- Optimise routes, balance loads, and reduce unnecessary travel or downtime.
About You
You have a transport/logistics background with strong analytical and systems skills, plus knowledge of fleet operations, driver management, and vehicle capabilities. Proficiency in scheduling and route optimisation software (e.g., AMCS) is essential.
Key attributes:
- Strong collaboration and process discipline.
- Knowledge of routing, dispatch, time windows, and service constraints.
- Ability to adjust schedules dynamically based on volume, geography, and priorities.
- Understanding of fatigue management, driver hour limits, and vehicle safety checks.
- Awareness of SLAs and the importance of schedule accuracy for customer satisfaction.
- Intermediate Excel skills.
