The purpose of the Assistant Director is to supervise and guide a staff of two full-time employees and to manage the daily workflow and processes of the Office of Admissions. Additionally, the Assistant Director serves as a liaison by promoting effective communication between the staff in the department and the Dean of Admission.

The Assistant Director supports the University's mission directly by promoting it to prospective students while recruiting for the program, describing the opportunities within Pepperdine Caruso Law in which the students can hone their leadership skills and serve the community. In regards to the strategic plan, the Assistant Director keeps the department focused on the work at hand and helps the team accomplish its goals in the most efficient manner possible

Duties

  • Maintain general office supervision within the Office of Admissions. Oversee hiring of new team members. Manage the training of new employees.
  • Assist in developing content for publications and communications; manage the marketing campaigns for prospective and admitted students; collaborate with the Marketing Department on social media efforts.
  • Manage the application process. Includes processing decisions, managing acceptance responses, and managing and purging admission data.
  • Work with the Dean of Admissions to develop and execute annual admissions events (Open House, Faculty Scholars, and Dinner with the Dean).
  • Manage the data exchange from the admissions platform (ACES2) to the University Student Information System (PeopleSoft).
  • Represent the Office of Admissions and various University groups (PeopleSoft Admissions User Group; Office of International Students.
  • Recruit, counsel, and meet with prospective and admitted students.
  • Evaluate select admission files and recommend decisions.
  • Represent Caruso Law at regional and national recruiting events for prospective students
  • Support other student services processes as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, customer service skills, creative, detail-oriented, energetic, highly organized, data entry, and word processing skills. Must be free of conflicts of interest. Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education/experience. Ability to communicate ideas, both written and verbal, with precision. Ability to work with a diverse community of faculty, staff, students, and external constituencies.

Preferred: Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly. Experience with marketing campaigns, and Adobe Photoshop.

This is a Regular, Exempt, 40 hour per week position.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
