The assistant dean is responsible for all aspects of the disciplinary process, including review of investigative reports, adjudication, and assistance with the Student Code of Conduct development and revision. As a staff member who works closely with students, this position serves as a Christian role model to students.

Duties

  • Meet individually with students for an administrative hearing and make determinations regarding appropriate sanctions.
  • Oversee investigations of alleged conduct violations.
  • Meet individually with students to determine facts and to make a determination if a student will be required to meet in an administrative hearing or before the Student Disciplinary Committee.
  • Coordinate communication to students regarding hearings.
  • Develop and train a faculty/staff/student hearing board.
  • Coordinate input of records in the disciplinary database.
  • Create an annual report on student discipline statistics.
  • Annually review and update disciplinary procedures and policies. Conduct periodic program reviews.
  • Participate in professional staff development and attend/make presentations at professional conferences and University events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Masters degree in college student affairs, dispute resolution, ministry, or education-related field. Ability to integrate Christian faith with student development theories and practice; excellent interpersonal and written communication skills; ability to work independently and as a member of a team; ability to interact effectively with students and parents; ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines; ability to maintain a professional demeanor and uphold confidentiality; ability to problem-solve and manage conflict; strong analytical skills. Familiarity with computer and standard office equipment. Personal faith in Jesus Christ; active involvement in a local church; demonstrated support for the Christian mission of the University.

Preferred: Juris Doctorate, three years of student services experience in a university setting; strongly prefer involvement or exposure to conflict mediation or student disciplinary adjudication; experience with Database management.

This is a Regular, Exempt, 40 hour per week position.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
