Enterprise development is a long-term strategic thrust for economic development, and a vibrant startup ecosystem ensures the sustainability of our efforts in enterprise development. As SAD/AD (Enterprise Development) overseeing the development of the entrepreneurship landscape in Singapore, you will work closely with SPRING Singapore and other partners to develop strategies and programmes that promote entrepreneurship and create a conducive environment for startups to thrive, such as the grant, equity and manpower schemes under the Startup SG umbrella.

SMEs are another cornerstone of our economy. They make up 99% of companies in our economy, hire almost 70% of our workforce, and contribute 50% to GDP. As SAD/AD (Enterprise Development), you will work closely with SPRING and other partners on policies and programmes to help our SMEs transform and grow. These can be in the area of grants, financing, and sector-specific plans through the Industry Transformations Maps (ITMs) to enable our companies to be ready for the future economy.

To help our companies transform, it is essential to have key partners such as the Trade Associations and Chambers (TACs) and other private entities that are committed to help grow entrepreneurship and enterprise in Singapore. As SAD/AD (Enterprise Development), you will engage a myriad of stakeholders alongside senior management, to better understand companies’ needs and to align our interests to encourage our companies, especially SMEs, to transform.

The enterprise development ecosystem is a complex one that is shaped by a myriad of factors and issues cutting across several policy domains. You will therefore have the opportunity to develop your ability to consider issues in broader perspectives when coming up with effective intervention measures to encourage entrepreneurship in Singapore, and to help businesses to grow and transform.
