As a statutory board in the Ministry of Communications and Information, IMDA promotes and regulates the infocomm and media sectors.

Responsibilities

Strategy and Programme Management

  • Lead a small team focus on industry development with an emphasis on developing or working on programmes and initiatives to grow small medium enterprises (SME) in the Infocomm Technology (ICT) sector.
  • Involve in strategic planning, developing strategies and conceptualising programmes for ICT Capabilities Development to develop and enhance the industry development plan and framework to build up the ICT sector in Singapore to support demand opportunities from assigned vertical industries/clusters (e.g. Trade & Connectivity, Modern Services, Manufacturing, Essential Domestic Services) to support Industry Transformation Maps (ITMs) and Government Innovation.
  • Scope will include analysing ICT industry landscape, trends from market research, identify gaps, challenges and opportunities for industry capabilities, product development, as well as potential for new business innovation in these sectors for commercialisation locally and export opportunities.  
  • Validate and implement strategic programmes to drive partnerships and collaborations with key partners and local ICT companies to develop innovative products and business models for prototyping, pilots and proof of concepts for validation, commercialisation and export products to other countries.

Account Management

  • Identify and work with local tech companies with high growth potential that can contribute to building the digital economy in Singapore to enable the vertical industries.
  • Understand their business focus/mid-to-long term plans, their business models in collaboration with other tech companies, institutes of higher learning (universities and polytechnics) and Research Institutions, their needs, barriers and work with them closely on projects that can grow their capabilities and develop products that are commercially viable and exportable.
  • Work with high growth potential companies on scale-up and upgrading programmes, and monitor their progress so that they can scale faster and contribute positively to economic growth and jobs creation opportunities in Singapore.

Industry and Capability Development

  • Work with Sector and Government Innovation Teams to understand demand requirements and needs, their real-life business problem statements and scoping projects that when solved are impactful and scalable for export to other enterprises or government agencies in Singapore and globally.
  • Curate and match ICT SMEs to these demand requirements through various approaches and drive various initiatives e.g. Innovation or technology challenges, with tech industry ecosystem to develop ideas, prototypes and products to solve the real-life problems and demonstrate feasibility for pilot and deployment.
  • Build strong alliances and network of strategic relationships with ecosystem players that can help ICT SMEs to develop products/solutions, capabilities and work with them on go-to-market (GTM) strategies for overseas market opportunities.
  • Forge partnerships and collaborations by defining scope of partnership and shape discussions between both local and MNC infocomm enterprises, strategic partners to deepen ICT SMEs’ understanding on vertical industry requirements, regulatory compliance guidelines and trends to develop innovative and differentiated technology products or solutions for local and regional demand opportunities.
  • Develop funding proposals, conduct proposals evaluation and obtain management approval to support innovative projects identified.

 

Requirements 

  • Honours Degree. Computer / Computer Science or Engineering or Information Technology (IT) or Business Management with knowledge on IT preferred;
  • Mature disposition with at least 8 - 10 years of working experience in leading teams and involvement in strategic functions and innovation projects.
  • Experience in business/ industry development and demonstrated past experiences in forging strategic partnerships;
  • Good understanding on different infocomm products and services and industry players in technologies such as Big Data & Analytics, Internet of Things (IoT), Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence/ Cognitive Computing, and Immersive Media;
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and guide a small team, demonstrate strong stakeholders’ management ability with critical thinking and problem solving skills; 
  • Able to present ideas concisely and clearly, and communicate with different levels including senior management (C-level / Directors);
  • Proactive self-starter, is analytical, self-motivated, high energy and driven yet able to work well within a team and motivate the team; and
  • Ability to multi-task, quick to adapt and able to work in fast pace work environment.

Position will commensurate with experience.
