As a Senior Assistant Director/Assistant Director, you will lead a team in the development, implementation and review of strategic policies, programmes and services on child protection. You will work closely with Child Protective Service (CPS)/MSF in development and implementation of strategic policies to build the social sector’s capacity and capability in keeping children safe. You will also lead in scaling up the social sector’s competencies in child protection work through the development and periodic review of training courses and a training framework to ensure the safety and well-being of children in Singapore. Additionally, you will train and coach community partners in child protection work. You will also lead in sector development through engagement and auditing of service providers in child protection related training.  

Your work involves close collaboration with the CPS/MSF, community partners and key professionals involved in an inter-agency framework on the management of child abuse.

You will be based at the Social Service Institute.


To meet the challenges of this role, you should possess:

  • A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or related discipline with experience in capability building. Experience in social work practice or in working with children and families is an advantage.
  • Prior experience in a leadership and supervisory role
  • At least 5 years’ experience in strategic and policy development
  • Prior experience in procurement and budgeting, with good analytical and writing skills
  • A confidence to undertake new initiatives and a keen desire to embark on collaborative work with internal and external partners for better outcomes
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
