Its core functions include ensuring food safety, ensuring resilience in food supply, safeguarding animal and plant health, safeguarding animal welfare, promoting agrotechnology, investing in research and development and protecting endangered wildlife.

Purpose of Job

The Regulatory Dept/Animal Management Group is responsible for the response and managing of public feedback and issues related to animals.

 

Duties

  • Be the customer service interface for the Wild Animals Section with the public, in collaboration with other organizations, as part of AVA’s First Responder role for animal-related issues.

  • Investigate and manage public feedback on animal issues, especially those related to public safety and health, and carry out enforcement work to ensure compliance to regulations.

  • Respond to public feedback in a timely and tactful manner that upholds AVA’s service standards.

  • Advise and educate the public and pet owners on measures to mitigate problems caused by animals.

  • Participate in neighbourhood and/or resident committee meetings and work groups.

  • Supervise and mentor field inspectors in feedback investigation and public engagement.

  • Put up reports, prepare Tender specifications and procure equipment when necessary.

  • Conduct animal management operations in the field.

 

Qualifications

A degree, preferably in biological sciences



Other Requirements

  • Good writing and communication skills

  • Good IT knowledge and skills

  • Able to work independently and as a team

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, if required

  • The following would be advantageous:

  • Good PR skills

  • 1 to 2 years’ work experience

  • Knowledge of administrative and enforcement procedures

  • Prior experience in working with animals

  • Valid Class 3 driving licence
