We are looking for a self-driven and experienced researcher to join Project Wolbachia – Singapore, which is exploring the use of Wolbachia for control of the Aedes mosquito vector in Singapore. The team is involved in a wide range of research activities, including the development and characterisation of novel Wolbachia-mosquito strains; development of methods/techniques to improve large-scale production of male Wolbachia-carrying mosquitoes; and rigorous mosquito surveillance activities. You will be involved in experimental design, research execution, data management and analysis, and report preparation, as well as ensuring that research studies are carried out in accordance with the OECD Principles of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP). You may also be involved in other research studies to support Singapore’s vector surveillance and control programme, and will be expected to publish research findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals.


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree (minimum), Master degree or higher (desirable) in Entomology, Biological/Life Sciences or related discipline
  • At least 2 years of experience in related areas, preferably in mosquito colonisation or mosquito field surveillance and control
  • Prior experience in handling large data sets would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of statistics, quality standards and GLP principles would be an advantage
  • Proficiency in mosquito dissection, high throughput PCR, or microinjection techniques are desired skills
  • Ability to work in a team in a fast-paced environment with an eye for detail
  • Physically fit and ability to handle the challenges of field work
  • Good command of the English language, as well as good presentation and writing skills
  • Computer literacy with good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Possession of a valid Class 3 driving licence would be an advantage
