We are looking for a self-driven and motivated researcher to join Project Wolbachia – Singapore, which is exploring the use of Wolbachia for control of the Aedes mosquito vector in Singapore. You will be supporting the planning and execution of research activities, which include the characterisation of novel Wolbachia-mosquito strains, and development of new methods/techniques to improve large-scale production of male mosquitoes, including quality control and rigorous mosquito surveillance activities. You will also be involved in other research studies to support Singapore’s vector surveillance and control programme, and will be expected to publish findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Entomology, Life Sciences or related discipline
  • Strong interest in public health and field research
  • Proficiency in mosquito colonisation, mosquito field surveillance methods, high throughput PCR and microinjection techniques would be an advantage
  • Possess good interpersonal skills and able to communicate effectively with external parties
  • Good command of the English language, as well as good presentation and writing skills
  • Computer literacy with good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Possession of a valid Class 3 driving licence would be an advantage
