The Youth Preventive Services Division is one of 14 divisions in Health Promotion Board and has six departments namely, School Health Service, Student Health Centre, School Dental Service, School Dental Centre, Nursing and Clinical Standards and Planning. Our vision is Healthier Children, Better Learners, Brighter Future and our goal is to promote good health and reduce illness among the school-age children.

Students who are identified with health problems during the school health screening are referred to the Student Health Centre (SHC) for further evaluation and management. The Nutrition Clinic at SHC takes a holistic approach to helping the severely overweight and severely underweight students to achieve a healthy weight through the adoption of healthy behaviours and lifestyle practices. A team comprises of dietitian, psychologist and nutrition educators provides lifestyle coaching to students and their parents and also to develop and implement weight management programmes for student in schools and in the community.    


The Manager of the Student Health Centre plans and oversees the implementation and evaluation of clinic-based, school-based and community-based weight management (WM) initiatives and programmes targeted at the overweight (O), severely overweight (SO) and severely underweight (SU) children and youth and other key stakeholders such as educators, parents, healthcare professionals, partners (e.g. MOE, SportSG, corporate partners) to empower children, youth and parents to adopt healthy lifestyle practices to achieve a healthier weight and health status.


Job Responsibilities :

  •  Oversee and manage the department’s budget, procurement of services, tracking of KPIs and responsible for regular updates to management
  • Develop and implement innovative and effective face-to-face and non face-to-face weight management programmes for the overweight and underweight students across all settings
  • Establish and manage partnerships and vendors to bring internal and external stakeholders together for synergistic programme delivery and target achievement
  • Establish, review and manage operations and processes to ensure weight management programmes are executed with good corporate governance
  • Connect and work with public agencies and industries to develop holistic/WOG models of programme delivery
  • Provide personalised lifestyle coaching for students to adopt healthy lifestyle behaviours and empower parents/caregivers with skills to nurture healthy habits in their children
  • Capacity building of stakeholders (e.g. educators, healthcare professionals) to increase knowledge and skills to tackle childhood obesity
  • Identify research opportunities, conduct gap analysis and needs assessment to present innovative insights and solutions
  • Develop marketing strategies and corporate communication material to raise public awareness of preventing childhood obesity

Job Requirements

  • A degree, preferably in business, accounting and/or health-related sciences
  • Possess at least 5 years of working experience in account management and managing projects related to planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating programmes
  • Possess good verbal, written and presentation skills and governance knowledge
  • Interest to work with children and youths to nurture healthy lifestyle behaviours
  • Able to think strategically and demonstrate strong analytical skills and creativity in generating ideas and solutions to complex issues
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently
  • A team player with strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels
