Responsibilities

Reporting to the Principal Assistant Director, Media & Communications and Director, Media & Communications, you will be an integral part of the communications team that brings the IPOS brand story to life. You will plan, execute and optimise our media and public relations strategy and programmes to elevate the brand visibility, positioning and equity of IPOS.

The scope of the role includes, but is not limited to these areas of influence:

  • Lead and drive the public relations strategy and campaigns to create high impact, purposeful brand visibility for IPOS;
  • Raise IPOS’ profile and image in key local, regional and international media, and generate regular coverage in top-tier trade media;
  • Plan the editorial and publicity calendar through engaging internal subject matter experts to develop story ideas (and building a story bank) to profile IPOS’ innovation mandate, expertise, and key initiatives;
  • Write compelling narratives and content, including media releases, story pitches, by-lined articles, digital content, factsheets, speeches;
  • Strengthen and cultivate media relationships, pitch stories, handle queries, and leverage on all opportunities to secure greater media coverage for IPOS at all times
  • Evaluate media opportunities across relevant communications channels to maximise brand exposure;
  • Provide communications counsel and guidance to internal stakeholders;
  • Prepare company spokespersons for public speaking engagements and media interviews;
  • Organise media events and activities such as press briefings, media training, speaking opportunities;
  • Monitor and analyse industry trends and media coverage for circulation internally and externally;
  • Partner with social media lead to build and amplify public relations activities on relevant digital platforms.

Write to us if you have/are a:

  • Degree in communications, journalism, marketing, business or its equivalent;
  • Strong public relations or communications background with at least 8 years of demonstrable track record gained at an agency, in-house with strong emphasis on media relations, or journalism;
  • Skilled in translating corporate business goals and complex concepts into targeted communications messages for different stakeholders;
  • Creative thinker with an ability to develop unique story angles and a keen eye for detail;
  • Keen understanding of local, regional and international media landscape;
  • Network of local, regional and international media contacts; experience in cultivating positive relationships with journalists;
  • Outstanding writing skills with ability to write in a journalistic style, with speed, clarity and simplicity. Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is a plus;
  • Experience in crisis and issues management;
  • Strong team player with polished interpersonal skills;
  • Adept at working with diverse internal and external stakeholders in a cohesive and collaborative manner to achieve joint success.
