SportSG is seeking for an individual who will be responsible to plan for the provision and distribution of sport facilities through Sports Facilities Master Plan (SFMP), to meet the recreational and sporting neets of both residents’ and athletes.

Job Responsibilities

As a Master Planner, in support of SportSG’s Vision 2030, you are

Responsible in establishing the following:

  • Optimise land use for sport facilities to support Team Singapore and community requirement/needs
  • Cater to the needs of residents, ActiveSG Clubs & Academies, Active Health Labs through master planning studies
  • Collaborate with Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and other agencies to ensure that land/space requirements are provided for
  • Identify new sporting concepts and facility planning for better integration and land optimization
  • Review the planning norms and parameters for sport facilities to ensure facilities are well distributed

Require to work with other agencies such as URA/HDB to ensure that:

  • The implementation of the SFMP is aligned with their building programmes and development plans
  • To ensure SFMP projects are implemented on schedule and within the approved budget
  • Project status are systematically tracked and documented for records

To leverage on IT (Geographic Information System & Data Analytics):

  • With the use of spatial and data analytics in planning of sport infrastructure and facilities
  • To analyse the data statistics collected from ActiveSG to aid in the projection and planning of sport facilities
  • To study insights of user preferences and utilisation trends

To establish partnership, collaboration with inter agencies in planning and design of sport facilities and spaces by:

  • Participating various workgroups in contributing planning perspectives to respective work streams
  • Assessing land use proposals/consultations from other government agencies and Grassroot Advisers to determine impact on existing sport facilities
  • Providing inputs and response to public feedback through various channels

Job Requirement

  • Degree in Urban Planning or equivalent preferred
  • Degree in Urban Geography, Urban Studies or Economics may be considered with relevant working experience
  • More than 2 years of relevant working experience in private or public sector and has been involved in developing land use proposals or master planning projects.
  • Work experience in public sector preferred especially in dealing with planning and economic agencies (e.g. URA, HDB, LTA, MOF, STB, EDB).
  • Knowledge of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and experience in using data analytics would be an advantage
  • Good interpersonal skills, especially dealing with different stakeholders from varied backgrounds (government agencies, internal colleagues, public, etc)
  • Ability to review and make recommendations regarding research, new technologies/ initiatives, collaboration opportunities etc to value-add to the facilities planned.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions and propose recommendations.
  • Possess excellent writing skills and presentation skills
  • Leads an active and healthy lifestyle with a keen interest in sports
