Formed on 1 July 2002, the National Environment Agency (NEA) is the leading public organization responsible for improving and sustaining a clean and green environment in Singapore.

The NEA develops and spearheads environmental initiatives and programmes through its partnership with the People, Public and Private sectors. It is committed to motivating every individual to take up environmental ownership and to care for the environment as a way of life.

By protecting Singapore's resources from pollution, maintaining a high level of public health and providing timely meteorological information, the NEA endeavours to ensure sustainable development and a quality living environment for present and future generations.

You will be part of the newly formed Engagement and Capability Development branch which has been set up to support NEA’s role as lead planning agency for after-death facilities and services. You will actively engage industry stakeholders, religion organisations, NGOs, VWOs and work with internal and overseas stakeholders and various government agencies to strategise, plan and implement new and various initiatives to raise standards for the funerary service.

Your job responsibilities include:

  • Work with interested non-governmental organisations, insurance companies and other related industries to encourage and normalise conversations on after-death options/funerary planning
  • Raise awareness on other after-death options such as scattering of ashes on land or in the sea
  • Encourage environmentally-friendly practices e.g. eco-friendly funerals, responsible burning of paper offerings for the deceased, to minimise disamenities to surrounding premises

Job Requirements:

  • At least 3 to 5 years’ of relevant working experience
  • Good Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
  • Able to lead, interact and foster team work
  • Good writing & communication skills
  • Possess strong analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Mature, independent and resourceful
  • Effectively bilingual in both English and Chinese languages
