We are looking for data scientists to discover the information hidden in vast amount of data to support evidence-based policy formulation for the stability and viability of the built environment sector. You must be experienced in using data science tools, building and implementing models, using/creating algorithms and creating/running simulations. You must have a proven ability to drive organizational results with their data-based insights, and comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with line departments or stakeholders to understand their needs/pain points, scope the problem and develop use cases on how to turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used for policy making, streamlining operations or developing solutions for the different departments
  • Design dashboards and interactive visualizations as tools for data exploration as well as for storytelling
  • Present analytics insights and results in a clear manner
  • Advise line departments on the key ICT trends and best practices in data analytics, assess applicability for adoption and recommend solution that best fits line departments’ needs

Requirements

  • A tertiary qualification in data science, computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, business analytics, engineering, or related disciplines
  • Experience in using statistical computer languages (Python, R, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
  • Experience in using data visualization tools (Tableau/Qlik Sense)
  • Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications
  • Excellent communications skills and the ability to explain quantitative analysis and results simply and logically

Successful candidates will be offered contract employment. Remuneration shall commensurate with qualification and experience.
