The Policy and Strategy Development Department is part of the Policy, Research and Surveillance Division in the Health Promotion Board. Our mission is to push frontiers of policy and strategy innovation, with clear evidence of impact to place Singapore in the international forefront of health promotion. We will advance understanding of behaviour epidemiology in the wider physical, social and economic environments, and translate that understanding into preventive health policies and strategies which leads to evidence-based interventions for the Singapore population.

This position offers the right candidate the opportunity to promote optimal nutrition for infants, safeguard ethical standards and guide the interactions between the relevant stakeholders. This is an exciting opportunity to address some of the nutrition issues facing preventive health in Singapore today.

You will have the opportunity to engage stakeholders from across the government and businesses, and assist to govern the distribution, promotion and sales of infant formula. You will also work closely with industry and healthcare institutions, as part of the compliance and monitoring process.

Job Responsibilities

You will drive strategic preventive health initiatives in the area of early childhood nutrition, to improve population health by:

  • Managing stakeholders to ensure continued compliance to ethical standards for the distribution of infant formula and achieve successful and sustainable code implementation;
  • Regular market surveillance and monitoring to ensure stakeholders’ adherence to ethical standards;
  • Developing national level strategies to ensure optimal early nutrition.

Job Requirements

  • Qualifications in Nutrition, Food Science or equivalent;
  • Minimum of 3 years working experience in early nutrition or related industry;
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills to identify, define and propose solutions for compliance issues;
  • Excellent interpersonal & relationship building skills to maintain strong stakeholder partnerships and communicate effectively at all levels;
  • Strong planning and organizational skills to set priorities and identify any areas that require further investigation;
  • Ability to work under tight time constraints in a challenging environment;
  • Highly developed communication and presentation skills, both orally and in writing, coupled with strong negotiation and influencing skills.
