So you’ve heard PM’s fishball stick story at NDR. This was a story told at the highest signature event of the year, by no less than PM himself. Have you wondered what happened since then? Well, we set up the Municipal Services Office (MSO) to bring about a quantum leap in Singaporean’s living environment. We do this by pushing for systemic solutions and driving efficiency gains among our 11 partner agencies, as well as inculcating the right culture and capability, and engaging the community.

We’ve made large strides in optimising based on the status quo, and now we’re embarking on the next exciting chapter of our journey – to go upstream to review more fundamentally what we can do next to bring about a quantum leap in municipal services outcomes (i.e. lots of analysing policies and options, and exploring new stuff like behavioural insights).

You’ll support the Division’s management team in formulating and implementing municipal services policies, dealing with bread-and-butter issues that affect the lives of Singaporeans. In some ways, you’ll get to be close to the ground, yet operate at a more strategic WOG level. Ultimately, we’re looking for someone who can contribute meaningfully and at the same time, pick up useful skills and experiences that they can apply in any future job.

  • A growth mindset, an open mind and grit
  • A problem-solver who can write and communicate well
  • The serenity to accept the things you cannot change, the courage to change the things you can, and the wisdom to know the difference
