As a Scientific Officer of the Radiation Services Section (RSS) in the Radiation Protection and Nuclear Science Department, National Environment Agency, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Lead a team of technical officers to provide personal dose monitoring for radiation workers and perform sealed source leakage tests
  • Assist in operations of the NEA’s Secondary Standards Dosimetry Laboratory (SSDL) which serves as the national laboratory for calibration of radiation monitoring equipment used in the medical and industrial sectors in Singapore
  • Develop Quality Management System and all necessary documents in preparation for ISO 17025 accreditation
  • Keep abreast of new technological developments and advancements in personal dose monitoring and calibration
  • Participate in and perform inter-laboratory comparison tests
  • Perform any other duties as required by the supervisors

Requirements

  • Degree in Science (Chemistry/Physics)
  • Good laboratory management skills
  • Good analytical, writing, presentation, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work independently and in a team
  • Able to work efficiently and meet tight deadlines
  • Able to adapt to changes and has a positive work attitude
  • Committed and takes initiative
  • Meticulous with good time management and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of radiation protection, statistics and ISO 17025 guidelines will be preferred
