JOB DESCRIPTION

The Supervisory Methodologies, Tools and Analytics (SMTA) division within IMD develops and enhances supervisory methodologies and analytical tools to facilitate efficient and effective supervision of banks. These include frameworks on risk and impact assessment, recovery and resolution, and culture and conduct supervision. SMTA also monitors trends in the banking sector and international standards, and engage regulatory counterparts with a view to benchmark ourselves and keep pace with global developments. SMTA works in close partnership with supervisors to achieve proactive and high standards of supervision.

SMTA seeks individuals who are interested in:
• Developing and enhancing supervisory methodologies and practices, in particular in the area of culture and conduct supervision.
• Enhancing the Banking Departments’ ability to analyse and assess both quantitative and qualitative data. The analysis could be performed through the use of data analytics, with a view to identifying emerging trends and concerns, hotspots and potential vulnerabilities in the financial system or specific financial institutions, and translating these to more timely interventions and pre-emptive supervision.
• Organising industry forums to increase industry awareness of supervisory expectations and obtain feedback on practical challenges.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Proactive and self-motivated, with good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to apply critical thinking skills when developing or enhancing supervisory methodologies.
• Strong analytical competence with high comfort level working with data, both quantitative and qualitative, and a keen eye for trends.
