Singapore Customs is a government agency under the Ministry of Finance. Re-constituted on 1 April 2003, Singapore Customs is the lead agency on trade facilitation and revenue enforcement matters. It is also responsible for the implementation of customs and trade enforcement measures including those related to Free Trade Agreements and strategic goods.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Officer of Customs, you will lead teams of officers to make trade easy, fair and secure. As part of our officers’ growth and development policy, you will have the unique opportunity to undergo job rotation to experience a wide spectrum of our core Customs operational functions throughout your entire career, which include: Intelligence and Investigation, Checkpoints, Compliance, Trade, Policy and Planning.

The duties of a Senior Officer of Customs include:

  1. Provide Customs’ presence at the checkpoints
  2. Provide intelligence support, conduct surveillance and investigations to suppress duty evasion and syndicate smuggling, identify and investigate commercial fraud cases
  3. Manage various operations related to regulatory trade procedures, assist companies to improve self-compliance and minimise tax burden
  4. Uphold Singapore's international and bilateral trade obligations including under the respective Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), ensure compliance to regulatory controls and provide a credible trade enforcement regime
  5. Conduct policy reviews and drive Customs' strategic and corporate planning processes and participate in International Customs and FTAs negotiations
