The Smart Nation and Digital Government Office (SNDGO), under the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) plans and prioritizes key Smart Nation and digital government projects, raises the standards of Government ICT and services, builds long-term capabilities for the public sector, and promotes adoption and participation in digital and smart innovations. It takes a whole-of-nation effort, and we will actively engage the public, the industry and fellow agencies as we build a Smart Nation together.

[Specific Job Responsibilities]

Reporting to the Senior Assistant Director/Public Communications, you will be part of the Adoption and Engagement Directorate at SNDGO. This directorate focuses on promoting digital adoption and profiling (local and international) of Smart Nation. The team will also look at promoting greater digital adoption and ground-up innovation primarily within the public service, and also in the private and people sectors as part of Smart Nation outreach in collaboration with other agencies. The team will also oversee and coordinate public engagement and international profiling of Smart Nation and digital transformation efforts

  • Develop communication and engagement strategies and messages for SNDGO and translating them into actionable work plans.
  • Develop and conduct research on public perception, stakeholder sentiments from various data sources including but not limited to admin data, polls, media to derive insights to inform policy, communications and engagement interventions
  • Plan and coordinate communications and engagement interventions for SNDGO’s key priorities and policies, providing strategic perspectives to policy formulation and implementation.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies with a data driven approach.
  • Develop and consolidate senior management talking points, key messages / announcements for events, and support principals and spokespersons in public appearances and media engagements.
  • Engage local and international media on Smart Nation and Digital Government initiatives, and work with stakeholders and partners to develop content and identify appropriate channels of dissemination.
  • Media monitoring and analysis of Smart Nation and Digital Government related coverage.
  • Events planning and management, including managing organising stakeholders for smooth running of event proceedings, and developing social media content for post-event publicity.

In addition, an ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • At least 2 to 5 years of working experience in public or corporate communications and communications research
  • Conversant with online/social and digital media space
  • Previous experience of working in a tech environment, or with tech and/or international media will be an advantage

Being competent in the following technical area(s) is advantageous:

  • Vernacular languages (Chinese and Mandarin, Malay, or Tamil) speaking and written proficiency

  • Passionate about learning, keeping up with contemporary communication and engagement strategies and tools, and in particular, how tools and concepts can be used to heighten our ability to communicate and engage with its stakeholders.
  • Can multi-task, with the capacity to respond quickly to fast changing circumstances.
  • Keen interest and appreciation of technology and its applications, and insight to developing opportunities, challenges and issues.
  • Strong news and political sensing, and general interest in Singaporean current affairs.
  • A team player who is also an independent, responsible, confident and keen to pursue excellence.
