JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary role is to liaise with the various requestors for the market list and to make the necessary purchase of food & beverage items for the curriculum and operational needs of a Culinary School (non-halal certified). Candidates can learn the intricacies of various types of ingredient and food as well as acquire the procurement skills to support the running of restaurant and café.

Procurement Function

Sourcing

  • Conduct market research to identify new suppliers/ vendors and establish working relationships with them for non-tender items.
  • Source and evaluate offers from suppliers to procure the best package in terms of quality, price, terms and delivery services.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends by building relationship with current and potential suppliers.

Purchasing

  • Procurement of food, beverage and other operational items for a Culinary School (non-halal certified) through the awarded tender and other purchase methods in compliance to the TP procurement procedures.
  • Work out logistical details with suppliers and monitor the prompt delivery of items.
  • Provide support to the chefs to meet their procurement requirements.

Delivery

  • Verify unit prices for all items in the manual invoices to match the awarded rates stated in the tender.
  • Verify the receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolve errors in orders with suppliers.
  • Ensuring optimal level of office supplies (e.g. stationeries, pantry supplies, toner cartridges, etc)
  • Perform routine or basic data analysis of procurement-related tasks by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data and trends.
  • Maintenance of procurement documents of goods ordered & received, daily expenses, market list and contact list of suppliers.
  • Identify process improvements within own work area

Frontline Services and Administrative Duties

  • Provide and respond to customer (frontline service) requests and manage facilities booking at the Temasek Culinary Academy.
  • Provide support for other administrative duties, as required by the School of Business.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Relevant experience in purchasing in F&B or hospitality industry would be preferred. (On the-job training will be provided for staff who do not have any experience)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Possess knowledge of market research and solid analytical skills
  • Good communication and service-oriented
  • Possess initiative and have a strong sense of responsibility
  • Excellent time management, ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Attention to detail and good problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines
