Management of used water network in Singapore is key in safeguarding public health and water resources. Used water is also a water resource. By collecting every drop of used water and ensuring every drop is fit for recycling, NEWater is produced as a sustainable source of supply to meet Singapore’s water demand.

You will be part of the department responsible for Singapore’s delicate and intrinsically complex sewerage network. As a safety officer in Water Reclamation (Network), you will play a key role in ensuring that the work in managing the network is carried out safely. Your main roles and responsibilities would include:

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures and regulations to ensure compliance with prevailing Statutory Acts and Regulations, as well as organisational and departmental rules and requirements.
  • Ensure all work sites comply to the Workplace Safety and Health Act and subsidiary regulations.
  • Provide guidance, support and advice to staff and workers on any WSH matters.
  • Plan, implement, conduct and facilitate health and safety audits at PUB workplaces including construction sites.
  • Conduct investigation of all WSH incidents and recommend corrective measures.
  • Coordinate, monitor, track and implement the safety recommendations by HSS, Safety Steering Committees and various Safety Committees in the department.
  • Monitor, track and analyse department’s safety performances and to recommend safety measures where necessary.
  • Conduct training and coordinate training courses relating to WSH.
  • Oversee the publication of WRN newsletters/share incident lesson learnt/HSS related safety circulars publication.
  • Provide secretariat support to Safety Committees.
  • Prepare and review safety plans and Risk Assessments.
  • Prepare and submit reports timely to relevant personnel.
  • Organise WSH Campaign and other promotional activities where required.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Civil/Environmental/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Safety or equivalent
  • Valid registration with MOM as a Workplace and Health Safety Officer.
  • Independent, result-oriented and self-driven team player with good communication skills.
  • Candidate with more relevant years of experience can be considered for Senior Safety Officer position.
