Civil Service College (CSC) Singapore is a statutory board under the Public Service Division, Prime Minister’s Office. We are the central learning institution for the Singapore Public Service and we play a pivotal role in partnering government ministries and agencies to develop people for a first class public service.

CSC brings together public service officers from diverse backgrounds and provides them opportunities to plug into a service-wide network to exchange views, build shared ethos and perspectives, creating a rich environment for dialogue, knowledge sharing and learning.

Through our programmes and services, CSC aims to build commitment and strategic capacity in governance, leadership, public administration and management for the Singapore Public Service.

Project Description

This project will involve research study and development of learning resources, which will be used to shape CSC’s efforts in building digital and data science capabilities across public service.

The intern would be expected to:

  1. Design an interactive digital prospectus that consolidates CSC-wide digital efforts to encourage self-directed learning
  2. Research on the latest data science trends/ topics, eg: data governance, analytics culture, data security, national AI strategies, coding, sensors and machine learning, as well as to source for suitable subject matter experts on related topics.
  3. Build online and classroom contents in the above areas.
  4. Build data products e.g. mapping of training interventions with learning outcomes to identify training gaps, dashboards to visualise and analyse past evaluations of programmes to determine relevance and effectiveness
  5. Other related work supporting items 1 to 4

Interns would be involved in every stage of the process, from ideation, to research (desktop and interviews) and development (writing, prototyping, user testing, facilitation etc.). Interns are expected to conduct field research and other relevant studies fit for purpose.

Project Requirements

  • Competent in digital platforms for resource development
  • Competent in designing learning programmes or development of resources
  • Qualitative research
  • Proficient in technical knowledge and skills, eg: Tableau, Python, R and with relevant applied experience
  • Fast learner, able to grasp basic concepts with ease
  • Open mindedness and willingness to learn
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity and open to change
  • Team player, able to establish good rapport with his/her team members
