Responsibilities

We are looking for an Assistant Manager/Manager to join our Registry of Co-operative Societies (RCS) & Mutual Benefit Organisations (MBO) team. You will have the opportunity to shape policies that will impact the members of co-operative societies (Co-ops), MBOs and the broader community.

You will be responsible for:

  • The development of policies and regulation of Co-ops and MBOs; and
  • The implementation of a risk-based regulatory framework for the Co-op and MBO sectors. This will include the following:
    • Ensure and monitor Co-ops’ and MBOs’ compliance with key statutory and prudential requirements;
    • Oversee, provide advice and assess requests on regulatory matters (e.g. amendments of by-laws, seeking exemptions, legal matters) and processes such as liquidation;
    • Review Audited Financial Statements of Co-ops and MBOs;
    • Identify high-risk areas and areas of non-compliance;
    • Engage Co-ops and MBOs to understand their plans to address risks and non-compliance, and monitor their progress.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in banking/financial institutions or regulatory work.
  • Expected to be able to put up written submissions/analysis and have a sound knowledge of finance, accounting and/or audit.
  • Analytical, self-motivated and be able to work independently and in a team.
