Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) was established on 1 September 1972 as a Statutory Board under the Ministry of Trade and Industry. Its charter since inception has been to oversee the development, management and promotion of the Sentosa Island as a resort destination for locals and tourists. Under the care of SDC, the island went through a makeover to become a premier getaway with multi-faceted appeal. From business conventions to beach parties, Sentosa caters to an extensive range of needs and interests. SDC has evolved and grown over the years. It currently oversees the following business and commercial units – Sentosa Leisure Management Pte Ltd, Sentosa Golf Club, Sentosa Cove Resort Management Pte Ltd and Mount Faber Leisure Group.

Reporting to the Divisional Head, this progressive and dynamic role will suit someone who has the aspiration, drive, and passion to transform and build a dynamic and influential finance team.

As Director, Finance, you will be leading a team of professionals responsible for the consolidation of Group results, budget, forecast and business reviews while ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory reporting requirements.  

You will also play a pivotal role in dealing with the various business heads with a strong business involvement and deputise the Division Head, to oversee the entire Finance division during her absence.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Business Partnering and Analysis:
  • Finance Business Partner to various business leaders and divisional heads across the organisation.
  • Deliver functional efficiencies and transform the role of finance as a business partner through your experience and knowledge. This includes (but is not limited to) developing innovative, sustainable ways to improve management of the team, processes and systems.
  • Provide value-added analysis and advice on key business planning assumptions, trade-offs and opportunities and drive the financial aspects of the business strategic plans, budgets, estimates and forecasts whilst ensuring alignment to the business.
  • Conduct risk assessments, evaluations and scenario planning to proactively anticipate and manage risks.
  • Accountable for the delivery of the Annual Budgeting and Forecasting, working closely with business unit leaders and finance counterparts to ensure robust planning and performance management. 
  • Monitor and review monthly financials in terms of achievement vs Budget/Forecast and understand the data points for the results, highlighting risks and opportunities against Budget/Forecast delivery and recommend actions needed. 
  1. Group and MTI Reporting:
  • In charge of group consolidation and financial reporting in compliance with SBFRS and Group policies.
  • Maintain consolidation template for organisation and its subsidiaries.
  • Responsible for the monthly reconciliation exercise for Group’s inter-company balances.
  • Review month-end reports from Organisation and its subsidiaries.
  • Lead the review and implementation of new and/or changes in accounting standards.
  • Responsible for maintenance of Chart of Accounts.
  • Implement and maintain adequate controls and recommend process improvement.
  • Manage communications with external auditors on external financial statements and accounting matters.
  • Preparing budget requests and reporting to MTI on cashflow projections, budget utilisation and medium-term projections.
  1. Corporate Accounting:
  • Support the Division Head in overseeing a team of professionals in the delivery of full spectrum of corporate accounting operations.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to the corporate accounting team as and when required.


D.     Investment and Treasury:

  • Implementing investment decisions in accordance to Board’s approval
  • Monitoring strategic and tactical asset allocation weights to implement portfolio re-balancing in accordance to Board’s approval
  • Ensuring that investment consultancy, investment management, custody and related services comply with statutory legislations, government directives, investment guidelines/restrictions, valuation policy and accounting standards
  • Managing cashflow needs and preparing cashflow forecasts for liquidity management and long-term financial planning
  • Responsible for general treasury management and operations, which include liaison with banks, payment gateways, fintech companies, government agencies etc



Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or equivalent, with CA / CPA qualifications
  • At least 15 years' relevant experience with the last 3 years leading a team of at least 6-8 persons in similar capacity
  • Commercially astute and enjoy working in a dynamic business environment
  • Track record of transforming, developing and managing a high-performing team
  • Meticulous with a strong analytical mind and ability to work under pressure to meet tight schedules
  • Excellent communication, management and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to influence thinking or gain acceptance of various stakeholders
  • Familiarity with strategic asset allocation, financial instruments, valuation, accounting, disclosure and compliance
  • Demonstrated high degree of integrity, initiative and honesty
  • Self-motivated with a “sense-of-urgency” and hands-on “walk-the-talk” approach
  • Prior experience working in a Big 4/audit firm and government agencies is an added advantage
  • Candidates without relevant years of experience may be considered for the position of Deputy Director, Finance.
