Senior Technical Officer (Production Unit) - Contract

Job Description:

You will work in the Environmental Health Institute, and be part of a multidisciplinary team that supports Project Wolbachia – Singapore. You will be involved in field work, data collation and mosquito production activities. These may include mosquito rearing, strain characterisation experiments and mating competitiveness assay, mosquito sorting and packing, mosquito releases and logistics, deployment and maintenance of mosquito traps, and/or data management.

Job Requirements:

  • Diploma in Life Sciences or related disciplines
  • Experience working in a laboratory or manufacturing setting will be advantageous
  • Experience in molecular biology techniques e.g. nucleic acid extraction and PCR will be advantageous
  • Knowledge and interest in insects will be desirable
  • Willing to handle mosquitoes
  • Interest in process improvement and innovation
  • Able to work independently and in a team
  • Able to systematically perform routine workflow with an eye for details
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good knowledge in Microsoft Office
  • Possessing a valid Class 3 driving licence will be advantageous
  • Physically fit and ability to handle the challenges of operational work
  • Willing to work staggered hours or after office-hours, weekends and public holiday
