The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) is a new Statutory Board formed under the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources (MEWR) to oversee food safety and security. The SFA will serve as the single point of contact for public feedback on food-related issues, and strengthen management of foodborne disease outbreaks to protect public health.

The SFA will also facilitate more business-friendly regulations with oversight of all food safety policies and consolidation of food laboratory capabilities to deepen competencies in food diagnostics, and research and development in food safety.

Purpose of Job

Successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team to drive and support aquaculture research, particularly in feed & nutrition. The team will operate and maintain a pilot feedmill to produce experimental diets and collaborate with industry and academic researchers to plan and conduct nutritional projects with in-house experimental tank systems.


  • Contribute to the design, and support the conduct and reporting of aquaculture research projects
  • Operate pilot feed mill to produce experimental diets to support aquaculture nutrition research. This include performing a variety of duties involved in processing, mixing, extrusion, feed materials storage and handing, inventory upkeeping and facility maintenance.
  • Assist in managing MAC’s operations, including broodstock/ hatchery/ live feeds operations
  • Perform other related duties as required for the smooth operation of MAC


  • Knowledge or relevant work experience in aquaculture/biological sciences/aquatic sciences/ biotechnology 
  • Some prior knowledge/experience in aquaculture will be advantageous
  • Familiar with laboratory-based work such as bacteriology
  • Familiar with use and care of water monitoring equipment e.g. pH meters, conductivity meters and dissolved oxygen meters
  • Ability (health, fitness, attitude) to work under field conditions
  • Prepared to work on weekends and after office hours when necessary.
