As a Public Communications Officer (New Media Engagement) in the Public Affairs Department, you create and execute SPF’s social media strategy to establish a strong and credible online presence. This includes curating and publishing engaging social media content to raise public awareness on safety and security issues in Singapore. It is a challenging role which requires you to be creative in developing these social media content and connect with the online community while staying aligned with the organisation’s mission to prevent, deter and detect crime. You are also required to work closely with the media, internal stakeholders and other agencies to ensure that information such as news on latest crimes of public interest can be disseminated effectively in a timely manner.   

 

Job Expectations

We are looking for a driven and dynamic individual who can work well under stress to be part of our team. Your job involves social media content management, keeping up with social media trends and identifying security-related issues that may generate public interest, and subsequently working with the relevant units to disseminate appropriate public responses. You will also be required to develop plans and strategies to help the organisation enhance and expand its online engagement. Besides social media, you will also be required to work with the mainstream media, responding to media requests and queries, drafting press releases and forum letter replies and formulating publicity plans to feature officers and police events. You will need to liaise closely and maintain a good relationship with media partners.    

 

Requirements

  • Background in New Media, Mass Communications or a related discipline  

  • Preferably 3 years of relevant work experience in media relations, corporate communications or journalism  

  • Possess strong writing skills and preferably be proficient in a second language 

  • Have strong interpersonal and networking skills 

  • Have a keen understanding of local media landscape and new media trends 

  • Have a strong interest in social media and experimenting with social media tools  

  • Be up-to-date with national and regional affairs
