As a Public Communications Officer (Media Relations) in the Public Affairs Department, you propose, curate and execute public communications plans to enhance public confidence in the Singapore Police Force and carry out the organisation’s mission to prevent, deter and detect crime. It is a challenging role which requires you to work closely with the media, internal stakeholders and other agencies to ensure that information such as news on latest crimes of public interest can be disseminated effectively in a timely manner.


Job Expectations 

We are looking for a pro-active and dynamic individual who can work well under stress to be part of our team. You job involves answering media requests and queries, drafting press releases and forum letter replies as well as formulating publicity plans to feature officers and police events. You will also work with a team to deal with crisis communications in the event of a major incident and develop crisis communications strategies. You will need to liaise closely and maintain a good relationship with media partners. Besides media relations, you will also be required to au fait with social media and identify security-related issues that may generate public interest, and subsequently work with the relevant units to disseminate appropriate public responses. 



  • Background in Mass Communications, New Media, or a related discipline  

  • Preferably 3 years of relevant work experience in media relations, corporate communications or journalism  

  • Possess strong writing skills and preferably be proficient in a second language 

  • Have strong interpersonal and networking skills 

  • Have a keen understanding of local media landscape and new media trends 

  • Be up-to-date with national and regional affairs
