Description of Division/Branch:

Youth Residential Service (YRS) is responsible for the rehabilitation, protection and reintegration of youth placed in secure care at the Singapore Boys’ Home (SBH) and Singapore Girls’ Home (SGH). The Homes are gazetted as a Juvenile Rehabilitation Centre for youth offenders dealt with by the Youth Court and as a Place of Safety for youths admitted on a Family Guidance Order, Care and Protection Order or under the Women’s Charter.

Brief description of Job Scope:

The primary role is to deliver classroom instruction to prepare youths for internal examination and/or National examination based on MOE syllabus to get youths ready for integration back into the community.

You will be based in Singapore Boys’ Home

Responsibilities:

 Your work includes the following:

  • Plan and deliver Biology and General Science lessons to youths on academic track
  • Plan and deliver Numeracy lessons (basic mathematics) to youths on vocational track
  • Engages learning through customized pedagogies and assessment modes
  • Undertake other duties as required at the Centre for Education like examination invigilation duties and setting of exam papers.

 Competencies required:

  • Possesses Post-Graduate Diploma in Secondary Education PGDE(Sec) from National Institute of Education
  • Possesses good classroom management skills
  • Able to engage and build good rapport with at-risk youths
  • Good communication skills
