The Citadel’s Career Center is offering a 9-month fellowship position for graduates with the masters degree in higher education, counseling or student affairs focused on mentoring and coaching Citadel students on professional development and securing employment/graduate school opportunities. The individual appointed to this full-time, 9-month position will be located in The Citadel’s Career Center and works very closely with staff to engage cadets in professional planning.  The position will report to the director of career services.  This position supports the college’s strategic LEAD 2018 plan that supports student career development and internships.  http://www.citadel.edu/root/theleadplan.

 Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Working with students to help them leverage their Citadel education to gain meaningful internships, employment and entry into graduate school.
  • Assist students in developing career plans along with their four-year degree plan that leverages opportunities in the summer months.
  • Leverage the Evening Study Period (ESP) to create opportunities and programming to engage cadets in professional development.
  • Develop new and enhance existing campus-wide relationships among key stakeholders/offices
  • Co-teach/teach leadership courses that develop student’s career planning skills.

Qualifications:

Candidate must have completed their graduate degree in a related field such as counseling, higher education administration, human resources, OR be in the final semester of their graduate degree program before starting. Candidates must be able to commit to the full 9-month appointment. Successful applicants must possess outstanding communication skills (interpersonal, written, and oral), the ability to effectively multi-task, strong attention to detail, a passion for learning, and a strong customer service orientation.
