Job Responsibilities:

The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, invites applicants to apply for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor beginning August 2018.  This individual will be responsible for teaching courses in a new Bachelor of Science in nursing program. The Citadel is a fully accredited, public, comprehensive, co-educational college with a student body of 2300 undergraduate and 1000 evening and graduate students.  The department will be offering courses during the day to the South Carolina Corps of Cadets and Veteran students, and in the evening to students in our undergraduate evening program.  The primary role of the nursing faculty is the education of students in the classroom and in the clinical setting. The faculty member will teach courses related to community and mental health nursing.  Faculty are also responsible for scholarly activity and service. Teaching responsibilities include courses in fundamentals of nursing, health assessment, and adult health.  A normal teaching load is twelve hours per week with small class sizes. The Citadel supports faculty scholarship and professional development.  Internal funding is available for research, development, and travel.  Salary and fringe benefits are competitive.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in a related field with a Master’s Degree in Nursing or a PhD in Nursing or a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP);
  • Unencumbered active license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of South Carolina or a Compact state;
  • Minimum of two years of experience in the primary area of responsibility.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in a nursing specialty;
  • Two years of teaching experience in an academic environment;
  • Five years of nursing experience in service or education as a registered nurse.
