The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, invites applications for a Regional Recruitment Coordinator to represent the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and its surrounding recruitment region, including Northern Virginia and parts of Maryland. The recruitment coordinator will be responsible for recruitment, admissions counseling, and outreach to these areas for The Citadel (travel more than 60% of time). This position will be based in Washington, DC. There will not be a relocation package provided with this position. This is a one-year temporary contract position, with possibility of renewal.

Job Responsibilities:

This position will represent and recruit for both the South Carolina Corps of Cadets Admissions Office and The Citadel Graduate College Admissions Office. The regional recruitment coordinator will work closely with senior admissions team members planning and executing strategies to meet enrollment goals while serving prospective students through the college or graduate college search process.

On behalf of The Citadel’s S.C. Corps of Cadets (SCCC) Admissions Office:

  • Manage assigned recruitment region in order to meet enrollment goals. This includes planning, executing and evaluating recruitment activities and events (high school visits, college fairs, private visits, direct outreach and communication).
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with prospective and admitted students and families, high school counselors, school officials, independent counselors, and other individuals involved in the college search process.
  • Provide timely and accurate information and promptly respond to inquiries from students, parents and school counselors while promoting awareness of The Citadel, its admissions and matriculation processes, and financial aid opportunities.
  • Provide marketing and advertising ideas relevant to the assigned area to The Citadel’s on-campus marketing office.
  • Utilize Recruit database and other data tools to actively monitor territory analytics, provide reports and activity updates, and recommend appropriate strategies and tactics to achieve enrollment goals.
  • Coordinate with the Associate Director of the Citadel Volunteer Recruiters (CVRs) and CVRs in the region for the purpose of developing a mutually supportive association that augments the college’s marketing efforts. This includes serving as a local point-of-contact and support resource to alumni recruiters in the area, as well as maintaining regular and frequent communication with them.  Work with the region’s Citadel Alumni Club to incorporate alumni, current student, and parent engagement into student recruitment efforts in the region.

On behalf of The Citadel Graduate College (CGC) Admissions Office:

  • Coordinate recruitment activities and serve as the primary point of contact for the region. This includes attending graduate school fairs and community college transfer fairs, and coordinating private college visits to universities to promote CGC’s both online and on-campus programs.
  • Establish relationships with human resource departments within companies and corporations to regularly visit, present and participate in company sponsored education fairs and meetings to recruit.  Develop and cultivate recruitment visits with federal and state government agencies. Represent The Citadel at large professional development and government conferences.  Build collaborative and/or pipeline matriculation efforts into CGC programs with companies providing tuition assistance for their employees.
  • Build recruitment efforts geared towards active duty military, veterans, and their families in the area. This includes attending military installation education expos and meeting with base Education Specialist Officers within the region.
  • Provide marketing and advertising ideas relevant to the area to The Citadel’s on-campus marketing office.
  • Utilize Recruit database and other data tools to actively monitor territory analytics, provide reports and activity updates, and recommend appropriate strategies and tactics to achieve enrollment goals.
  • Work with The Citadel Volunteer Recruiters and Alumni Clubs within the region to incorporate alumni, current student, and parent engagement into student recruitment efforts in the region.

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree is required. The ability to travel and to work flexible hours will be required for completion of duties. Applicants must have an understanding of college recruitment, admissions, and enrollment management principles as well as excellent customer service, written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to work effectively independently and as part of a team with a high degree of interaction with others. Strong public speaking skills and the ability to develop and foster relationships with schools and companies. Goal oriented. Experience setting priorities and meeting deadlines. Strong computer skills are required. At least 2 years work experience, preferably in an educational recruiting setting. Recruiters are often the first contact prospective students have of the College; the first impression is critical. Therefore, this person must possess a high degree of professionalism & integrity. Must attend training on The Citadel’s campus in Charleston, SC before beginning duties. Ability to travel to The Citadel’s main campus quarterly. 

Preferred Qualifications:

An understanding of The Citadel, the S.C. Corps of Cadets and Citadel Graduate College is a plus. A working knowledge of a customer relationship management (CRM) platform such as Recruit is desired but not required.
