The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, Department of Cyber and Computer Sciences invites applications for one tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level and one tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or full Professor level, both beginning August 2020. Minimum qualifications include an earned Ph.D. in computer science, cybersecurity, or a closely-related field. In addition, applicants should be committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service, and they should exemplify The Citadel’s core values of honor, duty, and respect. For these positions, preference will be given to those with a strong background in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and/or machine learning. However, candidates from all areas of computer science are also encouraged to apply. Applicants in ABD (all-but-dissertation) status may be considered at the Assistant Professor level with the expectation that the Ph.D. will be completed by the start of the fall 2020 semester.

Located in beautiful Charleston, South Carolina, The Citadel is a fully accredited, public, comprehensive, co-educational college with a student body of 2,911 undergraduate and 873 graduate and professional. Since 2016, The Citadel has been designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education by the National Security Agency and Department of Homeland Security. The Citadel supports faculty scholarship through internally-funded research, development, and travel. The Department of Cyber and Computer Sciences has 6 full-time faculty positions plus several adjunct faculty. The department offers several programs: the B.S. in Computer Science (accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org); the B.S. in Cyber Operations (starting fall 2020); the M.S. in Computer and Information Sciences (jointly with the College of Charleston); graduate certificates in cybersecurity, information systems, and software engineering; and undergraduate minors in computer programming, management information systems, cybersecurity, and cyber interdisciplinary studies. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate courses in computer science for majors and minors and graduate-level courses in computer and information sciences. A normal teaching load is 12 hours per week with small class sizes.
