Experienced Public Service Librarian 

The Citadel: The Military College of South Carolina is accepting candidates for an experienced Public Service Librarian in The Daniel Library. The successful candidate will be a strong presence in the campus community by building and maintaining close relationships with faculty and students in order to meet their teaching, learning, research, and publication needs. The Public Service librarian provides research and technology assistance through individual consultations at the Research and Information Desk, through virtual reference services, and during library instruction sessions; serve as liaisons to specific academic disciplines; develop and teach instructional sessions for undergraduate and graduate students; participate in campus-wide and library assessment programs; and create and maintain online research and technology guides. Some evening/weekend hours and minimal travel are required.  

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • An ALA-accredited Master’s Degree in Library/Information Science 
  • Must have progressive academic library reference and instruction experience, or its equivalent 
  • Strong computing, communication, interpersonal, writing, and presentation skills
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience
  • Strong commitment to diversity, equity, respect and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience instructing college students in the use of library information resources, and presenting information literacy concepts. 
  • Experience identifying student learning outcomes, lesson planning, and assessment 
  • Experience with creating online library tutorials that can be embedded into learning management systems. 
  • Experience collecting and analyzing assessment data related to library services and programs. 
  • Experience working with Springshare software.
