Post as ED41 Medical Technologist with companion post ED42 MT Advanced Responsible for performing laboratory testing assigned to the department. Recognize unusual test results and resolve discrepancies. Ability to establish work priorities and handle several procedures simultaneously, including troubleshooting instruments and other problems/issues. Maintain knowledge of all current Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) required to work effectively. Develop, draft, revise SOPs, training documents, validation/verification plans, test cases, and validation/verification summaries. Maintain excellent communication with the Department and other Laboratory Services personnel. Perform a variety of complex immunohematological tests that are required for safe transfusion of blood and blood products. Prepare blood and blood products, including those that are irradiated, leukoreduced, thawed, pooled, divided, and aliquoted in syringes. Assist with the maintenance of quality control of blood refrigerators and freezers, cell washers, and centrifuges to include daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning, alarm checks, temperature checks, and basic troubleshooting.

Under general supervision, the Patient Access Services Representative provides high level customer service while facilitating accurate and timely completion of registration verifying and preparing all patient accounts for inpatient and outpatient billing to maximize payment for Hospital and Clinic services. This position reviews and verifies all payment methods available (insurance, self-pay, agency) and patient/insurance information. This role works with patients to set up payment arrangements and to arrange/apply for assistance programs. The Patient Access Services Representative assists in collecting copayments and deductibles, and solves basic billing inquiries.

The 66 bed Neonatal Intensive and Intermediate Care Units are located in our Children's Hospital. The MUSC NICU is the regional referral center for this area, providing care to premature and sick neonates. The average daily census is 66. The Neonatal ICUs provides medical and surgical care with most common diagnoses including prematurity, respiratory distress, and neonatal surgical conditions. In addition to respiratory and nutritional support, the NICUs provide ECMO/CRRT and surgical support. Pediatric Palliative care is available as needed. Two units located on the 8th floor of Children's Hospital include the 27 bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the 9 bed Special Care Nursery. The 29 bed Level 2 Nursery is adjacent to Labor and Delivery on the 5th floor of MUSC's Main Hospital. The NICU also supports an infant home monitoring program for infants requiring monitoring upon discharge. All NICU beds are monitored beds.
