UNIV - Lab Tech - Hollings Cancer Center Charleston, SC-Main Campus
The Hollings Cancer Center Director’s laboratory is looking for a candidate with advanced knowledge of varied technical expertise and with some lab experience. While some techniques can be learned on the job, the candidate should have a professional and dedicated attitude and should possess some knowledge and experience performing at least some of the following laboratory tasks: • Perform lab techniques (DNA purification, PCR, western blots, immunohistochemistry, etc.) and other lab chores, such as preparing solutions, setting up experiments, data collection and maintaining laboratory records. Assist with ongoing projects and experiments. Maintains and calibrates laboratory instruments. • Oversees and maintains mouse colonies with guidance form a senior laboratory fellow, performs daily activities of mouse breeding, separating pups, genotyping, and maintaining accurate records of mouse colonies. Performs mouse dissections and performs/learns to process tissues for further analysis by the histology and histochemistry core. • With guidance from senior personnel in the laboratory, the candidate will be in charge of independent projects. Executes simple research tests, as well as will learn to execute complex research tests, evaluate results and trouble shoot potential experimental problems.

Incumbent will function as a research assistant for a federally-funded study evaluating a school-based intervention with high school students with uncontrolled asthma in Beaufort and other South Carolina counties (to be named). Digital Dental Laboratory Technologist primary responsibly is to supervise and provide training on the latest technology in computer-aided design (CAD), additive and subtractive manufacturing processes (CAM) and to fabricate restorations for patients treated in the James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine student clinic. This individual will work with, train, and supervise dental students and faculty in various digital workflows to include 3D printing, milling and scanning. In addition, the technologist will be responsible for generating high quality restorations out of various materials to include acrylic, resin and ceramics. This individual will also be responsible for calibrating and maintaining the laboratory equipment and training other laboratory technicians on digital dentistry techniques.

Maintain a clean environment for Bee St. and PG2 Garages. This includes changing trash cans every few hours, walking the areas at least 2 times a day picking up trash and debris found around the area. Cleaning the Ashley Rutledge Garage parking garage.
