10Determine financial feasibility in order to advise PI and department leadership.Essential

15Prepares PI Reports for industry contracts. Meets regularly w/ PIs and clinical coordinators to ensure compliance w/ university and sponsor guidelines and to reduce risk of cost overruns.Essential
15Works directly w/ clinical coordinators and PI to successfully track earned income; timely submission of invoices. Directly responsible for ensuring earned income is identified and received.Essential
20Manage the industry awards in UMS including reconciliations, determination of personnel effort, recharge centers, approval of non-payroll expensesEssential
5Communicates directly with department leadership (Chairman, Vice Chairs, Director of Research) and SmartTeam on issues related to the above.Essential

Job summary: Position reports to the Director of Research Administration for the Department of Medicine. Budgets, manages and administers clinical trials within the Department of Medicine. ormulates and administers grant/contract-related administrative policies and procedures. Position administers pre-award grant and contract activities in support of the Department's efforts to secure external funding from federal, state, local, corporate, foundation, and other private sources. Responsible for grant proposal preparation and submission.

Payscale Salary Range: UNIV-Band 6: $39,960.00 - $56,947.00 - $73,935.00 (min - mid - max)

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A bachelor's degree and three years business, personnel, grant-in-aid or public administration experience.

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
In-depth experience with management of industry sponsored clinical trials.
Must be able to make decisions independently, using sound judgment; operate under minimal supervision; be a self-motivated and flexible individual with the ability to work in a fast paced environment with frequently changing priorities. Must have ability to coordinate diverse administrative/management functions; establish and maintain effective working relationships; plan, organize and supervise the work of subordinate personnel; and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people.
Must have working knowledge of: University, State, and Federal policies, procedures, regulations and services which pertain to contractual and grant activities; contractual and grant monitoring procedures; personnel, accounting and financial management procedures, practices and policies; and have the ability to review and interpret complex grants and contracts. 
Must have working knowledge of Word, Excel and Internet search tools. Within six months of employment must have received training and have working knowledge of UMS, eIRB, ERMA, SPARC, Cayuse, eRA Commons, and others as identified.
