Job Duties:
10Assist in other procedures as defined by supervisor.Essential
10Develop anesthetic and surgical skills commensurate with full humane care and use of animals with respect to murine cardiovascular surgery.Essential
10Maintain husbandry of murine systems which includes identification and selection of transgenic lines and preparation for cardiovascular studies.Essential
10Maintain inventory, supplies, and database in order to perform data analysis for the murine physiology laboratory.Essential
10Perform biochemical techniques such as: Western blotting, zymography, ELISA, radio-immunoassays, and multiplex assays.Essential
10Provide assistance and engagement in the biochemistry laboratory and the murine physiology laboratory.Essential
10Tissue culture responsibilities include: maintaining multiple cell lines, perform various in vitro experiments including stimulation studies, proliferation assays, and migration assays.Essential
5Collect biological samples for research from experimental subjects and assist in processing as necessary.Essential
5Maintain computer system that holds husbandry information and update research protocols as necessary.Essential
5Maintain inventory and supplies for tissue culture laboratory.Essential
5Maintain tissue culture database and perform data analysis.Essential
5Perform echocardiography on murine systems and maintain data recordings.Essential
5Perform thoracic aortic aneurysm inductions in murine models on a reproducible basis, both in standard strains and in transgenic lines.Essential

Job summary: The purpose of this position is to provide critical research support for the ongoing cardiac surgery research program. This will entail establishing and cultivating tissue culture cell lines, assisting in the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, ordering laboratory supplies and equipment, and ensuring laboratory compliance with all safety requirements.

Payscale Salary Range: UNIV-Band 4: $26,988.00 - $38,460.00 - $49,932.00 (min - mid - max)

FLSA: Hourly

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A high school diploma and two years work experience in a clinical or research setting; a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or other natural, life or health care science may be substituted for the two years of required experience.
