Job Summary/Purpose: Under the direction of the Division Director, the Clinical Supervisor assumes responsibility and accountability for providing clinical management/primary care. Assist Division Director and Practice Manager in addressing the issues of all nursing staff and in annual assessments.  Supervise Clinical Staff for the Division of Children’s Care Network for both N. Charleston and Moncks Corner Clinics.

Minimum Training and Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and three years related nursing experience required.  Must be able to perform interdependently with a variety or other positions and staff members of the job. Pediatric experience preferred.  Saturday rotation work.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Licensure as an LPN by the South Carolina Board of Nursing and current BLS required.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assume responsibility for clinical staff compliance with clinical policies and procedures, OSHA/CLIA regulations, in service requirements, certificate/licensure requirements. Provide all new hire training.
  • Manage and ensure adequate clinical staff to facilitate patient flow according to current standards of practice.
  • Manage the clinical supplies and maintain adequate inventory for clinical use in accordance with cost effective parameters established by UMA.  Responsible for ensuring equipment is maintained in accurate working order and meets calibration guidelines. Prepare for CLIA/OSHA inspections and maintain all applicable regulations.
  • Supervision of all Clinical Staff and scheduling of daily work schedule for providers and clinical staff.
  • Manage the triage of patients and prepare for M.D. exams and procedures.  Ensure there is adequate assistance with exams, procedures and treatments as necessary.  Provide instruction to patients in collection of sample tests.
  • Manage and ensure that prescribed medications, IV therapy treatments and tests as ordered by M.D. Observe, record and report patient physical and psychosocial condition, reaction to medications and treatments to M.D. are administered accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Manage the response time and triage of all incoming calls. Provide instruction to patient as ordered by M.D. regarding treatment and/or medication.  Responsible for the monitoring and distribution of medication including samples and controlled substances.
  • Manage and ensure the timely flow of patients, scheduling of appointments and referrals based on urgency and availability. Ensure patients are properly screened for appropriate information and provided patient education as appropriate for diagnosis and treatment.  Manage the maintenance and review patient records, charts and any other pertinent information, communicating information as appropriate.
  • Manage and ensure proper communication plans of care to patients including development of patient education materials as appropriate.
  • Manage in clinic meds and vaccines for both private and VFC, Prepare and educate staff for DHEC site visits.  Primary vaccine coordinator. Yearly application review/renewal.
  • Provide coverage for nursing staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements: Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking and sitting. Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions. Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required. Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors. Frequently lift, lower, push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs (+/-) unassisted, exert up to 50 lbs of force, lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs. Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces.
