Job summary: The Medical University of South Carolina Children’s Hospital, Division of Pediatric Hematology Oncology is seeking a board eligible or board certified Pediatric Hematology/Oncology physician with a primary focus on sickle cell disease. This faculty member will serve in the Sickle Cell Clinic with the care of pediatric and young adult patients. There are two social workers dedicated to the sickle cell patient population at MUSC. Vibrant opportunities exist for participation in clinical trials and research networks. Emphasis will be placed on continuing to develop robust infrastructure and quality measures for care of sickle cell disease patients throughout the lifespan at MUSC with a focus on coordinating efforts with the internal medicine department. Opportunities for dual appointment (in Pediatrics and Medicine) exist for a candidate with the appropriate medicine/pediatrics training and board certification. This faculty member will also participate in the weekend call coverage for the pediatric hematology/oncology service and the weekday pediatric hematology/oncology inpatient coverage as needed.
