Job Duties:
30Assists investigators and staff in their planning and preparation of all types of IRB submissions through familiarity with federal regulations, IRB policies and MUSC policies.Essential
30Performs training, outreach and educational sessions for the research community in support of the education of the HRPP and eIRB system.Essential
30Using data reports generated via the electronic IRB system, identifies areas where assistance is needed within the IRB office to maintain equal distribution of workload. Works with all IRB staff members and boards and analyzes and evaluates research applications according to federal, state and institutional guidelines. Plans and implements these work operations.Essential
5Assists with the establishment and modification of IRB policies and procedures and guidance resources as required by federal mandates and as necessary to improve the functioning of IRB process.Essential
5Provides IRB Program Manager and IRB Chairs with pertinent information regarding research review requests and progress.Essential


Job summary: This position supports the institutional research enterprise by providing leadership and direction on all federal, state, and institutional regulatory compliance issues related to protection of human subjects. Manages and coordinates the IRB review process and participates in University initiatives related to the overall human research program and its various components.


Payscale Salary Range: UNIV-Band 6: $39,960.00 - $56,947.00 - $73,935.00 (min - mid - max)


FLSA: Salaried


Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A bachelor's degree and three years business, personnel, grant-in-aid or public administration experience.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Bachelor's Degree and three years relevant program experience. Prior experience working with regulations and guidelines related to research applications preferred.     
Experience as an IRB administrator or IRB coordinator preferred
Experience conducting pre-review of both committee and non-committee review items
Certified IRB Professional (CIP) preferred
Effective verbal/written communication
Knowledge of relevant and applicable federal regulations such as 21 CFR 50, 56, 45 CFR 46,
Ability to effectively communicate with academic faculty/staff in a professional manner
Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office, with emphasis on Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Knowledge of electronic IRB system (Click Commerce /Huron product)
