Job summary: The Division of Hematology/Oncology, Department of Medicine, and the Hollings Cancer Center at the Medical University of South Carolina are seeking an outstanding physician scientist with peer-reviewed funding in hematologic malignancies and/or bone marrow transplant.  The applicant should be an accomplished clinician with a strong research background, and should possess the leadership skills required to drive forward team science.  The successful candidate will be nominated to be the Mary M. Gilbreth Endowed Chair in Clinical Oncology.  Applicants must have an MD degree, and be board certified in hematology and/or oncology.  Protected time for research will be provided based on applicants’ strengths and interests, and academic rank will be commensurate with experience.

The MUSC/HCC Bone Marrow Transplant and Hematologic Malignancies program is the largest in South Carolina, is FACT accredited, and supports a robust portfolio of clinical trials.

The Hollings Cancer Center is designated by the National Cancer Institute and has state-of-the-art clinical and research facilities including a highly developed clinical trials office with a growing multi-center trials network and Phase I trials program, a robust biorepository and tissue analysis resource, a genomics core, and a cell evaluation and therapy facility.  The Center has NCI approved programs in developmental cancer therapeutics, cancer immunology, cancer genes and molecular regulation, and cancer control.  In addition, clinical and translational research at The Hollings Cancer Center and the University is supported by an NIH-funded Clinical and Translational Science Award.
