Job Duties:
100This position is responsible for developing the research agenda for the SC Office for Healthcare Workforce (SCOHW) in collaboration with partner and stakeholder agencies and organizations in South Carolina. The successful candidate will hold a leadership role within the SC AHEC and will support the mission to expand and support primary care services in rural and underserved areas of the state. This position is also responsible for developing, implementing and communicating the research projects of the SCOHW in collaboration with partner agencies such as the South Carolina Office of Primary Care and other stakeholder organizations needing accurate and unbiased information about current and future healthcare workforce availability. Additional responsibilities include directing and supervising the analytic work of a small research staff. The position may include potential for teaching in the various Colleges within the Medical University of South Carolina.Essential


Job summary: The South Carolina Area Health Education Consortium (SC AHEC) program office in Charleston, South Carolina invites applications for the position of Director of our Office for Healthcare Workforce. We are seeking a candidate with expertise in issues affecting the healthcare workforce and the impact of a changing health care delivery system or care delivery models on health workforce needs and configurations.

This is position is state-funded through the SC AHEC program and there is potential to grow the program with successful bids for federal and state grant opportunities.  It is a full time position with an adjunct faculty appointment within the Medical University of South Carolina. The faculty appointment is a non-tenure track position that does not include teaching responsibilities.

Salary Range: Salary and rank will commensurate with experience.  


 

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: 

Qualified Candidates must have a Master’s degree and five years of relevant experience, or a completed doctorate in health services research, health economics, public policy, sociology, or a related field.  Experience with analyzing administrative databases, development and an interest in applied and policy-relevant research is essential.

Content expertise in topics relevant to workforce development in healthcare environments, workforce deployment issues, healthcare personnel impact on quality of care or care outcomes, or other topics influencing current and future healthcare workforce policy and deployment is preferred.  Documented experience in communicating research findings to diverse audiences in written and verbal form is preferred.
